Steve and Vicki Downum
Steve started in photography in high school. He had his own darkroom and enjoyed developing black and white photos. (Yes, it was film.)
In 1972 while attending Arkansas Tech, he made a movie (8mm film) for a creative writing class.
Steve married Vicki in 1975. By this time he was taking wedding pictures with a 35mm camera.
In 1977, the Downum's purchased their first video cassette recorder (RCA100). It was big and heavy.
1979 they purchased a video camera. This was not a camcorder. It ran on house current not battery. Boy, did you have to have a lot of light!!
In the early 80's they got a "portable vcr." This was a two piece unit that a video camera was attached to via cable.
It wasn't long before they started taping weddings. Downum Video has taped wedding in Missiouri, Oklahoma, Florida, and Arkansas.
Many camcorders and computers later, Downum Video have produced scores of wedding, picture videos, and graduation videos.
The Downums have seven grandkids.
